We were engaged to design and install this Parktown garden. The client’s children had grown up and he wanted a more sophisticated adult space for entertainment and recreation in their down time.

Nestled in Parktown with its shady trees and graceful avenues, the brief called for a timeless elegance, with a modern twist. The classical garden was simply laid out and had many big trees and mature hedging. However, the established garden was missing definition and structure.

Clean lines demarcate the flower beds, with a subdued planting scheme in this Parktown garden. Layered green textures create depth. A cool palette of colours creates a harmonious ambience. Existing Pecan Nut Trees provide this perfect backdrop to the hard landscaping elements.

Concrete cast in-situ stepping stones, in light earthy tones sets the backbone of the design and creates direction and movement throughout the garden. Wild Olive trees were planted, screening off the house from the surrounding Parktown homes and providing a sense of intimacy to this established Parktown home.

The result? A classical space with distinctly modern elements.
