The brief on this Bedfordview project was to create a Tropical Oasis on the Highveld. The tropical look makes us feel we have just arrived at an exciting, exotic holiday destination. Our client wanted a space to enjoy and in which to entertain and a space that will be good in all seasons without too much fuss. Let us run through the steps we used to bring the vision of a tropical oasis in Bedfordview on the Highveld, to reality. 

We brought in mature Palms, newly built-in planters surrounding a newly constructed mega blue pool. This set the tone for the resort style pool area and anchored the home with the garden. The planting followed the tropical theme with Ferns, Bamboos, Philodendrons, Yuccas, Agapanthus and Strelitzia, creating a lush hallmark to this small Bedfordview town house garden.

Decking and tiles were used to link the front, side and back garden with Mondo Grass set within sections to read like a garden, breaking up the hardscape with living plants. This area also functions as a gathering point with extra built in seating for entertaining, while the bold, lush planting provide a sense of enclosure and privacy, and connects to this small Bedfordview garden resort vibe.

The result – a holiday at-home-space lifestyle to enjoy and unwind.
